This is the waste denim from just one M1 jean. Not good.

I’ve called the first jean our M1 jean (as it’s the first jean designed by Mohsin).

But I’m already onto the next MTTR jean, which I believe will be a big part of denim’s future.

It’s a zero waste pattern jean, with concept and design by our friend, Mohsin Sajid.

It’s nothing short of a work of art.

And like all the best art, it makes you think real hard.

Here’s why:

• 80% of a garment’s climate impact (CO2) is generated by the fabric.

• It’s estimated the fashion industry produces approximately 400 billion square metres of textile every year.

• An average of 15-25% of a piece of fabric is wasted on the cutting room floor and the vast majority of this is not recycled or reused. Instead, it ends up incinerated or in our landfills.

• That’s around 100 billion square metres of fabric which becomes waste straight away, every year. That’s enough fabric to cover 14 million football pitches.
